Blind Video            multimedia installation                                       2002

A multimedia exhibit in collaboration with VSA for the Arts.
As humans we are always exploring alternative perspectives and perceptions. Working in collaboration with visually impaired people, the core idea was to generate opportunities and explore art as technology. Using the visual and technological medium of video as a contemporary art form, whilst questioning video as a viable form of communication, the visually impaired were the artists, investigating how they interpreted color, while videoing and editing their own images.

We constructed a long hallway leading to an enclosed room with 3 video projections, playing sound representing the 3 primary colors.(red, yellow, blue) All the walls had a line of Braille describing the artists personal narratives. The result, while those with sight could only use the sound and images to imagine what the artists were trying to say, the blind could read and hear their reality.
